Bratislava
is the capital of the Slovak Republic and its economical, political and cultural centre.
It is located in the southwestern part of the country, on the river Danube. The name "Bratislava" has been the official name of the city since 1919. Before that, there were different names - German Pressburg, Latin Possonium and Hungarian Pozsony.
The historical centre of Bratislava is connected with the glorious period of the coronations of the Hungarian kings. In the years 1563 - 1830 nineteen royal coronation processions passed through the streets of this medieval town.
Rich history of Bratislava and cultural activities of the present time provide excellent conditions for the developing travel industry.
